cowbee is one of the most patient posters I've seen

Sometimes so much that I want to ask him this.

Nintendo character Daisy saying "Are you tired of being nice? Don't you just want to go ape shitt." to the Nintendo character Peach.

Patience is important to sway people

The others that are too far gone aren't worth trying to convince, but providing good sources is still useful for all the lurkers in the margins

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 35 points 2 weeks ago

You too, wish I could have your attitude when the fash get mad at you

[–] BiteSizedZeitGeist@lemmy.world 36 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I think ML isn't for me but @Cowbee has been super patient in answering my questions and I'd love to consider them a friend

Cowbee has answered so many of my questions and been very patient.

We all deserve to do him a favour and read his ml reading list

Cowbee might say that great man theory isn't real, but I think they're a real great person

Cowbee is the goat

[–] kaklerbitmap@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I have no idea who this is or what this is about. I'm sorry for being out of the loop, cowbee.

[–] LeninWeave@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Cowbee is a user who makes a lot of comments in discussion and debate threads about socialism and communism. IMO he's extremely patient and gives very detailed explanations/arguments. Some people disagree with him (which is OK, of course), but some of those people are IMO rude and/or dishonest about it. This form is a joke about that.

For some reason I'm glad I don't know who cowbee is. Sometimes outside looking in is the best position to find yourself in.

He's everyone's favorite stupid commie, thank you very much.

You're also not stupid at all. I often wonder if you're actually four people. If you're not, props for being that good.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

Thanks for the kind words, but no, I've got a long road ahead in my studies before I consider myself educated in the field of Marxism-Leninism. I'm just one person, I just like to yap!

Assuming maybe wrongfully that they are a man, (i'm uncomfortable with the use of they/them to designate a singular person, english isn't my first language), yeah, I'm seriously impressed by his patience and kindness.

I felt so ashamed to give small answers to him that one time he corrected me with a very understandable and precise paragraph, that I actually became motivated to read a bit of theory.

That's what i call a good influencer.

The correct pronoun is the preferred pronoun.

[–] Cowbee@lemmy.ml 11 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Some apps don't display modified usernames, so it would just show "cowbee" instead of "cowbee [he/they]"

Using "they" for a singular person has been used since at least the 14th century, so there's no need to feel uncomfortable with it. I highly recommend reading the Wikipedia page on Singular they, which touches on its history.

A similar example is "you." "You" used to be only a plural, with "thou" being the singular, but over time it fell out of fashion and now "you" can be used as singular or plural, like how "they" can be singular or plural.

Singular "they" was criticised by some people hundreds of years after it started being used. But language cannot be prescribed; it is determined by how people use it.
