The guy who owns the platform and removes things he doesn't personally like talking about free speech. Projection as always.

[–] Screen_Shatter@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago

His idea of free speech is child porn, racism, and pro nazi talking points. When it comes to the latter things you have the freedom to talk about these things without censorship from the government, but you also have the freedom to suffer the consequences from the public and fellow citizens, such as being criticized and told to shut the fuck up.

I couldn't live with myself if I was paying for Twitter. Those folks literally funded the largest and most pervasive child porn operation to ever exist.

Zack had the blue tick way before it was paid feature. I'm 99% sure he doesn't pay a penny for it

Should delete account on the Nazi platform though

Were OG blue ticks grandfathered in?

[–] lath@lemmy.world 28 points 1 month ago (1 children)

Some. It was a "privilege" kindly donated to the peasants of some renown.

[–] TurkeyDurkey@piefed.world 2 points 1 month ago (2 children)

That kind of gives me an idea

What if to get a verified badge, it's multiple users paying for it for you to have. Like fans and stuff. This has some faults of course, but I'm sure the base idea could be worked with one way or another.

Side note: Why are people still using Xitter?? 😭

[–] notabot@piefed.social 5 points 1 month ago

That would be similar to the "web of trust" approach where users vouch for each other, and you can determine how much you trust someone, or at least their account, based on how many others vouch for them, and much you trust those users.

[–] lath@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

To answer your side note, because it's popular and most people are unaware of its dark side.

Yep, at least initially

[–] zeezee@slrpnk.net 29 points 1 month ago (1 children)

wow bald youtube man is clapping back

[–] ThunderWhiskers@lemmy.world 35 points 1 month ago (1 children)

I have only seen a handful of YouTube shorts with this man and I respect his opinion orders of magnitude more than I do Musk's.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 31 points 1 month ago (1 children)

His YouTube channel is all about right to repair and he uses most of his YouTube income for manufacturing affordable handicapped mobility tools called "not a wheelchair". He also donates another large portion to libraries and water supplies in Africa.

He seems like a very decent dude based on what he shows online

I have mixed feelings about the guy. All that stuff is true, but he also bought a Cybertruck.

[–] SmackemWittadic@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

That's true, and he also helped Ridge Wallets give away another cybertruck. Everyone in tech or EVs should say something about how no one should ever give any money to Tesla

*kids'

That's the only incorrect thing about the sentence though

[–] sunbytes@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The apostrophe was there originally, but it came off during the bend test.

[–] seat6@lemmy.zip 11 points 1 month ago

Posting on a platform; directly supports that platform. People who feel this way (I’m one of them); should really leave these platforms altogether

This about some app store ban?

[–] C1pher@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

Here you see in black and white, that this internet “surveilance” has NEVER BEEN ABOUT KIDS. This fucker makes an app like that, and nobody does anything. X is not block in ANY country, that was behind chat control or any other BS change for “kids safety”.
