Same guy:

What we are going to be doing is focusing on a few features and polishing those to the highest possible level we can. And the first feature I spoke about was: How come the screen's gone black?

~ Peter Molyneux, Fable 2 E3 live presentation, 2007

Masters of Albion comes out this year, and quite soon, on 22nd April, and seeks to give us a dose of Dungeon Keeper, Black & White and Fable all in one.

Honestly it sounds and looks great but no way am I buying an early access Molyneux game!

What's the chance that Peter is lying about his goodbye like everything else he lies about?

So it's actually part one of a trilogy and there's no publisher in place for the sequels? It's like Molyneux gets off on disappointing players.

Or to many people have been burned by his promises and waiting for it to drop and see how it does before any commitment to sequels. I hope it does well because it sounds really cool, but we all know it can be a big flop as well.

I loved the original Black & White way back in the day but I never really clicked with his other games, even Fable.

I just remember the mini documentary that Tech TV had on him that they would repeat over and over. and even way back then he was getting called out on his over promising for his games. like the original Fable was a fraction of what he promised it would be.

He has to be one of the most over-rated game designers in the industry. For some reason whenever he has anything to say we all need to hear about, all despite a string of mediocre games.

the most generic shit ever

He genuinely did some quality stuff in the 1980s and 1990s. Populous (1989) and Powermonger (1990) were genre-defining, and in their era, were amongst the best games available on the Atari ST/Amiga.

He seemed to have a run of innovative classics - Theme Park and Dungeon Keeper were quality...

...and then at some point he just started promising things he couldn't deliver. Black and White still turned out pretty good, despite the broken promises...

... then in the last handful of years, he's worked hard to destroy his previous reputation by churning out overhyped shit.

I think his games were a touch above mediocre, myself. He's the mind behind many beloved series; that's got to count for something. Fable, Black & White, Dungeon Keeper, and Theme Park are pretty legendary names.

I had a blast with populous and dungeon keeper. They're not god given games with the best design ever but they're good games with interesting quirks. The other two, not so much.
