Hello,

as the title states, i am looking for some IMAX movies (particulary tenet, oppenheimer and the dune movies) in their original aspect ratio (1:1.43, not 1:1.78). They aren't availible on blu ray, only in the DCPs. There's one guy on reddit claiming to have the files, but the other users were rather doubtfull. Do any of you know if and where such files exist?

Since production companies never release the IMAX DCPs of their screeners to like BD/DVD printers, I'd guess it would be pretty hard to find outside a leak from their own offices (IIRC DCP drives sent to theaters are encrypted ROMs).

For other examples I'm pretty sure The Dark Night and Dark Night Rises had 1:1.43 scenes in it. I feel like Blade Runner 2049 should've been IMAX if it wasn't haha. Not sure if it had the budget though.

There is a 16:9 “open matte” edition of blade runner 2049 floating around many torrent sites. Unfortunately it’s only 1080p SDR. But it does look great and is a neat way to rewatch the movie.

Is the only point of a copy like that for re-encoding? I assume you can do so with minimal loss in quality

The bigger question I have is how are you going to view them? Did you build yourself and IMAX size screen?

he's future proofing his archive. I have a bunch of 420p tv shows from 15 years ago that looks horrible now.

While I have access to a 4:3 projector, as @turkishdelight said I want to keep as much of the original as possible.

That sounds like a fun project.

These seem like blu ray rips, the're only in 16:9.

Is it listed on meta sites for your language? If not, it hasn't spread around. In German that would be xrel.to

Try olamovies (dot) top. They have a lot of OpenMatte versions of many films as well. You might find IMAX too.

I've checked, sadly they're only 16:9 too. Thanks anyway
