If they have access to Reddit’s database then they have all the previous versions of everything, including deleted comments and deleted accounts.

You don’t think they paid to simply scrape, did you? They already do that.

How do you think Reddit is restoring posts that people have been deleting?

Do you think Google’s deal simply allowed them to scrape old.reddit? Hell no, there is probably a live replica of Reddit prod at Google somewhere, including deleted posts and all edits.

You don’t think they paid $60m just scrape, do you?

Besides lots of other cool stuff it can do (including monitoring for a lot of your self hosted stuff), HomeAssistsnt has the Feedreader integration, which lets you poll RSS feeds. You can then create automations to send notifications to you through the HomeAssistsnt companion app.

Feedreader defaults to polling once per hour, but you can change this in the configuration.

That’s not how AI or nuclear fusion work.

Are you running docker on the PVE host? Or within a LXC container or VM?

Note that running docker on the PVE host is not recommended as this can cause networking problems for both docker and the host+guests

If you are running docker in a VM as is recommended then pass thru the USB drive to that VM, it will act as if it was plugged directly into the VM.

Vizio TVs also (in my admittedly limited experience) have some of the worst display latency, even in game mode.

Just another reason never to go with them again, I guess. I did like the remote with the full keyboard on the back though.

Proxmox is great but if you are happy on unraid then it does make a lot of things simple that may or may not (depending on what we’re talking about) be as easy on PVE. For example, PVE is not a storage solution first; sure you can do lots of storage stuff but you should not host shares directly off it for example (set up a container or VM to host the shares passed through from the storage pool on the host box).

You get more control and customization (which is where I was very happy; I have a cluster and my network shares are a service I manage within that) but if you are looking for a NAS-first solution for a single server, give something like TrueNAS Scale a good look before you take the plunge.

Convenience and fun. It’s not about having buttons to push, it’s about making sure things are taken care of.

The house closes the garage and turns off the lights when I leave. The hallway dimly lights up when I get up at night to use the bathroom. When the dishwasher runs, it keeps track of how much soap is used and adds it to my grocery list when it gets low. If the dog walker comes to the front door, it unlocks for them. My interior lights can be cool white during the day and warm white at night without me doing anything. Soil moisture sensors let the system auto-water my vegetables, as well as my lawn, and at the exact time of day when it’ll be the coolest.

I don’t necessarily need any of that, but it sure makes things easier.

How do these people not realize that these cameras let other people to see into their homes?

This has happened SO. Many. Times.
