It should have been a SP game, not this weird pseudo MMO thing.
It seems that the main problem is that it is basically a $15 DLC sold as $40 game.
As a big fan of space sims and action RPGs, I wrote that game off when looking at reviews and how the spaceship building system and space travel were.
It's like they choose the worst of Elite Dangerous and mixed it with the worst parts of previous Bethesda RPGs.
I would not go that far.
I was not meaning it in a fatalist way. Precursors are important, but should not turn into the big product themselves.

That's true, it is built on the work of open source precursors, but it is not an open source product in itself.
Another comparison should be Mastodon vs Bluesky.
For Reddit and Facebook, something similar is still pending.
They are trailblazers for sure, but I don't think they should be made into full blown mega corpoi, that is not the philosophy of open source apps.
