It's GTK4, libadwaita is just their really weird theming stuff, but the UI toolkit is still called GTK, and version 4 of it forces you to use libadwaita. You can't change the theme, because Gnome is actually user-hostile.

Both Germany and the EU have their own Mastodon instances for official announcements, social.bund.de and social.network.europa.eu

There's also an instance for the German public broadcasting service, ard.social

They don't have a proper Android app with sync capability and force you to use the proprietary, 3rd-party PhotoSync app.
