The only way of anonymously posting I could imagine on a federated image board would be to use an account on some other Fediverse platform (e.g. Mastodon, Firefish, Mbin, etc.) and to have the name of the account hidden for anonymous posts. That could maybe work, idk. Would be pretty cool tho

True, anonymous posting is very difficult to implement safely and would probably place a huge burden on volunteer Lemmy moderators.

I don't know, can't really describe it, but 4chan just has a different vibe. I love Lemmy, but it's closer to Reddit than to 4chan.

4chan I guess. It doesn't have to be 4chan specifically, I just want a federated ActivityPub image board

I'd say or OpenSUSE Leap or Debian

It's a great app, unfortunately it's not open-source. According to the Exodus report, it contains some tracking SDKs, but their network activity can be blocked in DNS. It also displays an ad banner by default, but this can easily be turned off in the settings.

I agree that we should reduce energy consumption wherever possible, but we also need to look at the big picture. The entire fediverse is just a tiny fraction of the energy consumption of the internet. Way more energy is needed for AI and other big tech bullshit.

I recommend watching this awesome video, as well as the updated version of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F-6la_I-xkQ

Germany has historically been pro-open source and the EU was just saying that the Fediverse is here to stay

That's a matter of politics. The tax authority doesn't care about the political stance of the German government. They also sometimes just take weird decisions that seem pretty random, but it's nothing political.
