Huh...Can't replicate that claim (though I would believe it happening)

On the 20th Sep. I asked my Google Home if it would be raining.
It responded that it would rain. I asked when it would rain.
Home responded with "Today it won't rain."

Like what? 5 seconds ago you said it would. No weather report reports rain. Where did you get the first response from??
And I could even replicate it (have it on video)

The moment I heard about the option was the moment I literally searched on how to enable/install this single KB-Update just so I can use it :P

Regarding the battery: That would be like leaving the desktop on at all times and just doing something else. This could be appropriate for an e-ink display. Maybe a PC should embed what form-factor it is in the bios like android phones do (e.g. phone, tablet, phablet) and the display report what type of panel it is (e.g. e-ink, TN, IPS, VA, QLED/OLED hybrid).
You can actually see those specs with AIDA64 on a phone. Very neat

I doubt it will be this much. But at least it could lower the price, assuming it's not already a thin margin for the manufacturers, and they will instead resort to using SMR instead of CMR

Tbh could be worse replacing an ad placement with another (say adidas to nike).
Personally actually be worse would be replacing an ad relevant to the movie (like an advertisement for the newest tool the protagonist always needed to progress)

So lucky my smart thermostat and door/window sensor are connected via DECT-ULE to my router/modem combo (for those interested AVM Fritzbox) and I can poll those via home assistant.
And I don't think they could phone home (and I hope AVM doesnt do bs).

Nico Semsrott (Kabarettist and member of the EU parliament. Yes, both) proposed in jest sponsoring placement on the jackets of the political members that got donations by companies.
The jackets should then look like the race overalls from Formula 1 or (not US) football players.

And I am fully supporting this.

Edit:

Am I reading this wrong or are they literally hijacking a shot in the content by placing a product in there?
Sounds like they could literally go in there and replace the kid watching tele-shopping in a movie with watching a literal ad made to look like it's genuinley in the movie.

Win11 also says that showing seconds in the taskbar "reduces battery life"/"increases power consumption"

Being miserable on reddit instead of being [insert feeling here] on lemmy?

Very happy with my jabra headphones as well. May not be best price for performance but they are solid enough. (85h elite and 65t active)

Is your account location set in GB?
Mine is in Germany and opted out. But I think remembering that there was already a post quite some time ago about the same thing.
