It's annoying to figure out if the program is any good if it's reliant on a UI.

I’ve turned down many self-hosted options due to the complexity of >the setup and maintenance.

Do you agree with this?

No.
I like my services and stack.
From the *arrs and Jellyfin, HortusFox, Unifi Network Application (though it should run with just a SQL-Lite DB) over many things else.
Yes, databases are annoying but if the service that wants it is sane I have no problem doing it.

What does grind my gears is when services have many breaking changes (e.g. Immich). If it wasnt for that I would be more open to finally start with that and maybe install good and working immich service.

The things redditors mentioned are very good already. Primarily screenshots.
Please, please always add screenshots to let me have a general idea of the UI.
At the very least a demo instance if you can't be bothered to add screenshots (yes, I have seen many services that would rather share a demo instance than screenshots...)

Makes sense to move it where it's appropriate.

Luckily my stack is only auto updating every month and only my downloader was impacted by this breaking change.

Sounds like something adjusted something in the nvidia control panel and the monitor is balancing that out with a low red value.
Maybe worth to take a look.

Yeah the 1€ per year was a typo ;) Fixed that

Huh? We are talking about a dns provider being ordered to resolve a domain.

[–] Appoxo@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 9 months ago (3 children)

I am thinking more about a general "phone book" and not a specialized section in the yellow pages.
Amd connecting to google via IP is not possible. Same for other companies and organizations that utilize obfuscation of the actual servers like reverse proxies and load-balancers.

BS solution that doesnt apply to the problem.
Problem: The DNS doesnt resolve the domain anymore so https://www.foo.bar/ resolves to 0.0.0.0
Solution: Change domain or directly connect via the IP.
Problem 2: What's the IP if you can't resolve it first. There aint telephone books anymore.

I new-tab basically anything. Faster than having to reload the search page 20 times looking for a solution.

I prefer my 10min of unskippable download time and watching it in 4k with a proper bitrate.

Just yesterday this video of Mike Shake popped in my feed: https://youtu.be/tHzuz09l41U

Essentially a sniper rifle with compressed air able to propel a 3d-printed bullet at sub-sonic speeds able to break a simulated skull. And it penetrated hard enough to for sure cause major complication for the target. Not to mention that lead slugs can easily be made DIY without much complications and skill. Lead can be melted pretty easily so lol.

Not much to do besides being able to cut a pipe, make a release mechanism and compile it all with a projectile to shoot. Done is your makeshift weapon.
