It has been a while that Nitter shut down. Still a pity, a few artists posted only there

Very interesting post, thanks for sharing

Makes want to fork the project and host a copy of the bridge that’s opt-out.

Wouldn't you get defederated fast too?

Instance can block bridge domain and it will not be federated

I was referring to the

Put the text #nobridge in your profile bio, refresh your profile on your user page, and Bridgy Fed will stop bridging your account. Or feel free to send me a request privately.

https://fed.brid.gy/docs#opt-out

Seems like defederation is not enough in this case, as it's not mentioned as a way to opt-out.

In ActivityPub, you have the freedom to defederate.

This bridge doesn't allow you to do so, I can understand why people have issues with it.

I know from experience that if you are the only person posting it is disheartening, and it leads to very fast burnout.

Very true

Gabe was also okay with us keeping the community there. I asked him on Matrix. If you want evidence, they appointed one of my alts as mod, which he shouldn't have done if he wasn't okay with the community.

We were ready to move the community elsewhere if Gabe would have preferred us to.

EDIT: JSYK, the Bridgy Fed developer is working towards making the bridge opt-in!

Thank you for this!

Oh, interesting. Curious what the Bonfire devs say about this
