молодец, товарищ! демократы будут сбиты с толку твоей умной метафорой!
You should have seen the internet before 1993 lol.
I was a post-doc during this period. I had a mobile phone but data was eyebleedingly expensive, and there wasn't much to do on mobile. Most companies had a minimal web presence and very little directed towards mobile. I drove across the US in 2009 and even then it was better to use the information preloaded on my Garmin than the mobile web.
This was a unique point in time when people had cell phones but had to carry a phonebook because there was no mobile internet. Some time between 1992 and 2005?
I went with Ryobi under the rubric of "if you use it enough to break it then buy a good one". I have a wall of green tools because most of them are used only occasionally. My hammer drill is the one that is gonna go. And yeah. I will buy something f'in awesome. Because using an underpowered hammer drill sucked.
Be prepared for endless mockery no matter which direction you go. Best of luck sir.
But what an intermission!
Then go see 2001 A Space Odyssey. Wait until the IMAX release comes around.
I'm in Canada. For regular employment there are a minimum of 3 paid weeks holidays. Vacation pay comes out of every paycheck so it's an entitlement. There is vacation hoarding, but mostly to take a while summer off or something. Nobody wants to get paid out for accumulated vaycay because the tax hit is monstrous.
The Kingdom of Loathing guys (Jick and Mr Skullhead) had a development approach to keep their game system balanced. They felt that players had different primary motivations/enjoyment in the game and they wanted to make sure there was something for everyone. They divided players into four groups: Hearts, Clubs, Spades, and Diamonds.
Hearts enjoyed the social aspects of the game and would use the chat system and clans extensively.
Clubs were the PvP crowd and weren't happy unless there were meaningful opportunities to battle other players.
Spades are explorers and look to every nook and cranny of the environment, and are interested in underlying game mechanics (this is me).
Diamonds are collectors and completists. They will scour environments to ensure they got everything and do all the sides because they want all the stuff.
