Admittedly, I don't know enough about monopolies and antitrust laws to know how much this matters. Can someone ELI5 this and give us more info?

UGGGGHHHH, please let it not happen.

It's so weird to see an MTG post and... yeah... I'm over here like: LFG.

Agreed. It's silly.

I like Mastodon. It's like social media from 2010, chronological, only seeing what you want, great curation tools, and no ads or stupid algorithm. Moderation is also way better on Mastodon, though it can vary by instance.

I haven't used BlueSky, but I imagine it feels pretty familiar, which is what a lot of people want, and that's cool too.

They can both be good things.

Deleted mine two years ago.

Kinda surprised it took everyone this long, TBH.

I can only assume BlueSky feels more familiar.

Mastodon requires a bit of effort, lacking an algorithm to drive content toward users, so you have to do a bit more yourself.

Sounds about right.

Even after 2016, the Dems haven't figured out what a bad idea it is to double down on their way of thinking, even in service to self-interest.

There aren't any ads on Mastodon. :)

You just search hashtags or set up a column so you have a feed giving you everything under a given hashtag, though it may be those communities are so niche there isn't much on the Mastodon instance you chose. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a specific instance for Buddhism itself, though, given that it's such a massive world religion.

That's probably fair. There's an abundance of smug assholery in the world right now. Apologies.

Must be nice to be so rich that you can just be this fucking weird in public.

I think this is the crowd that tried Mastodon and then abandoned it when they realized it required a modicum of effort.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A sight previously thought to be science fiction is very real at a southeast Kansas City shopping center. Instead of a police officer, a security robot has been patrolling sidewalks and shoppers are taking notice.

Since Marshall the robot has been on the job, shoppers say the experiences have completely changed when they come to these stores. The robot can spend 23 hours a day monitoring the parking lot from all angles which gives people a new sense of protection and ease they don’t always have when out.

Marshall took over security at Brywood Centre in April. Before that, Karen White noticed a lot of trouble outside the shopping center.

“Sometimes it’d be concerning for your car like someone could take it or something,” White said.

Knowing now that Marshall is always watching, the risk of crime does not worry her or others as much.

“It made it very better, like you can’t be in the parking lot without seeing the robot,” White continued. “So, I think it scared them off.”
