Assets get reused all the time. Elden Ring base game is reusing assets from Sekiro and Dark Souls 3. I haven't played Rebirth but I'm pretty sure it's also reusing assets from the previous Final Fantasy remake.

To be honest, I also can't fathom it being such a massive flop. On Steam it peaked at 700 players. Shadows of doubt release peaked at 2200. Something had to go seriously wrong when a niche indie title with no mainstream appeal has a better launch than a AAA game. I don't think it should've been a success, but it definitely should've done better than that.
It is a feeling thing, you don't actually get more vertical space because most games don't change the vertical field of view with the aspect ratio. If you're playing on 16:9 and you go to 4:3 it should give you more vertical space. But the games I've tested the the vertical field of view stays the same. Vertically you see just as much as with 16:9, but horizontally you see less because the aspect ratio gets cropped horizontally. Same applies with 21:9 and 16:9. You get the same amount of vertical space with 21:9 as you do with 16:9, the actual difference is in horizontal space.
The difference you feel is just an illusion. Even in that video I agree that 4:3 really does feel like you're getting more vertical space. However the cropped sides break the illusion and show that you're not actually seeing more vertically. But it's a feeling thing so there's no wrong or right answer. If you feel like you're getting more vertical space from 16:9 then you're getting more from 16:9. I don't feel that so I appreciate the extra horizontal space.

Until you get an ultrawide screen. It's one of those things where once you get it you've ruined how things used to be. That extra horizontal space makes all the difference. I don't play on the TV anymore because it doesn't matter how big the TV is, it's still 16:9 and it's just too narrow. Going from 21:9 to 16:9 feels like going from 16:9 to 4:3. It just feels off putting.
Ultrawide feels so good I'm genuinely sad it hasn't been picked up by the TV manufacturers. Considering 2.39:1 is a common aspect ratio in cinematography ultrawide TVs would be a near perfect fit as 21:9 comes down to 2.33:1.

I think Stalker 2 needs a mix and match option where we can choose the language of the dialogue line by line. Or at least a future "meme" language option where the best lines of every translation is used.
And how exactly does a free fly invalidate the article about refunds requiring an NDA? Nobody is questioning whether there's is some semblance of a game in a project that has been in development for over a decade, it would be a massive red flag if there's wasn't. What people are questioning is why is there a secret shop page that players can access ONLY after they've spent a thousand dollars on the game, and then another secret shop page after they've spent 10k? What's up with the predatory practices?
Is your response "No no no, don't look at those controversies. Look at how pretty the game is"? A free fly event doesn't invalidate the claim that you might need to sign an NDA to get a refund. It doesn't invalidate the claim that the devs had to pull 7 day work weeks. There are loads of criticism that the free fly does not address at all. These articles would exist even if everyone tried the free fly.
From my experience games that get "hate articles" are games that are already doing questionable things. You don't get such articles circulating about good games because that shit just won't stick. When it comes to SC and CI that shit does stick.

You need to progress the story to a certain point and I think you also need to be a certain level. I would recommend being high level because some of the content is definitely felt designed for high level.
Honest answer, fear of Russia. Baltic states and Poland know first hand that given a chance Russia would gobble them up so they focused on getting into NATO and EU while Russia was still weak.
Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus stuck with CIS (Russian sphere of influence) and it hasn't paid off for them. Ukraine got what Baltic states and Poland feared (which is why they're one of the biggest supporters of Ukraine) and Moldova went "oh fuck, Russia can't be trusted" as they decided to go down the path of leaving the CIS and joining EU and NATO.
The countries who decided to embrace the west got a better deal than the ones who decided to stick with Russia.
My first hour of gameplay didn't feel like as bad as the reviewers put it. I have a relatively beefy machine (5800x, 4070 and 32gb of ram), the game defaulted me to epic settings (with DLSS and frame gen) and I'm getting a pretty stable 50 FPS. The only bug I've encountered is the audio not playing, and I guess also the sun not reflecting correctly off of windows.
The first hour isn't much but I was expecting a much worse initial experience. My biggest issue so far has been the default keybinds but I'm hoping to solve it when I have more time to tinker in the settings menus. I'll update my experience when I've had more time to play. So far I'm happy.
