Yeah, they were added somewhat recently, I know.

No, but I think the idea of a second layer of organization to tabs is a wonderful idea. Maybe not a gig of RAM to sort them, sure.

This is frustrating. Obviously it's not okay to make jokes like that and I even think some sort of punishment might be okay, but strip searching and jailing her overnight? You aren't creating someone who will think before they speak, you're making someone who will be paranoid of all legal processes and never trust any government official ever again for anything because they got fucking STRIP SEARCHED AND DETAINED OVERNIGHT over a really shitty joke.

Whatever you wanna call it, some people do struggle with that. I get your point, but by suggesting there's no such thing at all you're trivializing a genuine problem so people have.

Not saying they aren't, just that a lot of folks will probably search their phone's app store and if they don't see it assume it doesn't exist for their phone.

Damn, if only we had some bill that would increase manufacturing of chips domestically. It would be foolish to cancel such a bill while also creating a tariff. How will people favor domestic manufacturing without that manufacturing existing? Surely the president would never do that.

I know, but I'm talking about someone being offered a sixonth paid sabbatical.

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev 5 points 8 months ago

We have this information but it's usually pamphlets, not a contract you sign. I haven't ever signed a contract for a job. I've signed things, yeah, like NDAs and stuff or an offer letter, but that's it.

[–] JackbyDev@programming.dev -1 points 8 months ago

Usually it's an NDA or something.

Someone talked about how his company was willing to give someone a six month sabbatical to keep this other dude around but the guy didn't take it. I was like that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard, just take it and then leave when it's over or whatever. And the person telling me this explained how he wasn't like that and wouldn't take advantage of the company. It just felt really weird. I don't experience true jealousy often but this was one of the times I have. Companies have never treated me well like that. The idea that people would just act like a 6 month sabbatical is something normal is fucking insane. I even told him that's crazy and I heard of and he said no, it's something a lot of places do. It's such an insanely privileged take to talk about it so casually.

Lol, it'd be nice if they gave you one to read, but that's generally not the case.
