I'm not sure how wide the intersection of power users that use uBO but also haven't heard of the manifest v3 deprecation coming since like 2019 actually is, but that could be because I'm the type of person to randomly recommend browsers to people and discuss them a lot.

ActivityPub does not share your IP with other instances, but of course, like all websites, your home instance can see your IP.
I desperately want all my posts on all forum like sites to be easily indexable by search engines. That Reddit blocked other search engines besides Google from indexing is crazy.
Reddit's blocking mechanism was also insane. Take this hypothetical thread,

If User B blocks User A, User A cannot reply to User C. Blocking on Reddit prevents people from replying to anything that is a reply to you instead of just your own comments.
Privacy is such a loaded term. To some people it means that your data is.not being actively sold to advertisers. To others it means everything is e2e encrypted.
I always wonder who are the creeps that check out strangers post history.

Yeah, but companies can also "choose" to ignore GDPR requests. I don't think talking about instances not following the spec and deleting things when requested is relevant.
To be honest, privacy is not a major concern of mine and wasn't a factor in my decision making at all. Things like messages not being e2e encrypted don't really bother me that much.
In the post the woman is not the butt of the joke for being tech illiterate (and I'd argue they aren't presented as that), the joke is on Anon for insisting on using free/techy stuff rather than costly but convenient things and ruining the vibe of the evening. This could just as easily say "Anon, why are you still fiddling with the picture settings? It looks fine. Motion blur? I don't know what that is. It looks fine. Just watch the movie."
Reminds me of the time I asked a question about a Magic: The Gathering card tomy local game store's Facebook page. The card was Sublime Archangel. I asked what happened if it gave a creature Exalted that already had one. Someone sarcastically replied that it already says it on the card. I was a new player, how was I supposed to parse the phrase "If a creature has multiple instances of exalted, each triggers separately"? For all I knew that could mean that they didn't stack because they would need to trigger together. I didn't have the vocabulary to understand those things.
I try to remember this when explaining what I might believe are simple concepts to people because that person really upset me.
