Ugh, "floating holidays"

Ignore them. Enjoy yourself. If you're interested in moving to a different instance later once you learn more about what that means then go for it. There are tools to help you and there's "no karma" so there's no reason to not. But there's no rush to do so.

Honestly I would like to see a feature that flags if a user's instance has open sign up.

It's getting to the point that if someone is still on an open instance, they're a little sus to me. It's easier to trust people who come from instances whose policies I agree with.

You know people can just lie though, right? It's not like that's the one magical thing that would "fix Lemmy" or something lol.

I really need to alias man to man -a.

I've never set up a VPN. I've connected to them for work, sure, and I've dealt with port forwarding for games back in the day. Is it much trickier? Their site makes it sound pretty easy.

Apart from me not reading the manual (or skimming to quick) I might have asked the LLM to check the history file rather than the command. Idk. I honestly didn't know the history command did anything different than just printing the history file

I was trying to find out how to get human readable timestamps from my shell history. They gave me this crazy script. It worked but it was super slow. Later I learned you could do history -i.

It's not that it was the "only" source, it's just that it would fit out a bunch of garbage articles like "top 10 best ways to blah blah blah"

It's cash, not a loan.

This must be something extra to enable, how do I do it?

Ahh, in the settings for the extension. I just enabled all lists. Is there any real reason not to?

Now that you mention it, it does sound familiar. I'm not sure if it's a constructed memory on my part though.

Given that people have done things like spash acid on their former partners' faces and say things like "if I can't have you then no one can" then I'm not terribly surprised that someone might try something like this.

But you're right, in general I don't trust green texts as truth. This could easily just be someone summarizing a story that happened as a green text though (which is a common thing).
