Meh I wouldn't go to an event for donuts unless they're really fancy. Panera or pizza is a "maybe" bordering on "unlikely". One department at my workplace caters their optional events with a local fried chicken joint and their meetings have the best turnout because everyone wants that delicious, delicious chicken.

Just keep telling people that you're swamped. "Aw man I wish I could go but I'm swamped. Thanks for inviting me though!" I've been in my corpo job for two years and have yet to attend any social events, except when catered and then I just sneak in and grab a plate then bail.

Unless there is free food. Never pass up free food.

What on earth could someone do with 80,000 lbs of beef? You can't exactly move that kind of volume on the black market. Storing that amount of beef alone would take a massive amount of space and cooling.

This reminded me of a joke I heard one time. "You know how they always say that aliens built the pyramids in Egypt? This is how you know Mexicans are the best workers in history. There are also pyramids in Mexico. Nobody questions who built those."

Steam VR runs on Linux natively, doesn't it? I switched to Linux a few weeks ago but haven't tried VR gaming on it yet.

I think they were using the karma count to show how much they utilized the platform, emphasizing how big the gesture of deleting their account was.

When I was deep in the Reddit hole I was obsessed with getting upvotes and avoiding downvotes. It was a dopamine hit. When I moved to Lemmy I joined an instance that doesn't allow or show downvotes, and it has been a breath of fresh air.

Oh man, Basshunter was huge in the chronically-online gamer space in the 2000s. His other songs are pretty good too.

To put it in perspective, the fact that they're gaming on laptops and LCD monitors was an enviable flex when his songs released.

That's a throwback. Let's take it one step further and just get back on Ventrilo and play some DOTA. (For the younger folks who don't get the reference: https://youtu.be/aTJncWndUB8 )

I have two servers, one Mac and one Windows. For the Mac I just map directly to the smb share, for the Windows it's a standard network share. My desktop runs Linux and connects to both with ease.

Not gonna lie, I just map a network share and copy and paste through the gui.

Could be. I heard it a lot from my parents who were born in the 1940s.
