Parkside's value-for-money quality has been astonishing these past few years. I took the risk with them maybe 4-5 years ago and not one power tool from their lineup has had any problems yet. Today I just set up their quiet compressor at my garage, and the damn thing really is so silent that you can even have a discussion using your normal voice when it's running.

I strongly dislike rap in general, but this horror was something that was probably home made by the kid himself or his friends. All I remember about the "lyrics" was that they involved some kind of rape fantasy.

That was the breaking point for me.

I live in Finland. We do not clap.

Everyone on the bus remained silent, just you are expected to be while in public spaces. This is our way.

It's easier to do when you're a tall man and happen to look like a bike ganger ;)

A few years ago I regularly took the same morning bus to work. There was this maybe 16-17 year old kid who sat on the back and would listen obnoxious rap at full volume on his phone, while hogging the whole seat row with his stuff.

I had my headphones on but the hideous rap blared so loud I couldn't hear anything else. In my country we rarely interfere with other people's business, everyone was just sitting tight looking pissed off.

After few minutes I stood up, walked to the kid and told him to either turn that shit off, use headphones like everyone else or I'd throw his phone out at the next stop. He looked at me for a moment completely dumbfounded but turned the noise off and left the bus at the next stop.

He never took the same bus again.

I collect movies that I know to be good. I've been a true film freak for over 35 years and I've learned how to find "my thing" from the vast market with the help from my friends, reviews and forums. Or when I see a truly good one at a theatre, it goes to my buy list and it might take years for it to come my way.

I have never bought a movie just because of the covers, this has actually never even occurred to me. I did rent films this way back in the day, but I only buy stuff I know.

Nowadays I rarely find anything I haven't already seen before, but just few weeks ago I came by a modern classic that I was unable to see in a proper theatre. I save these specialties to watch with a projector and a good sound system, hopefully in a few weeks I'll find the time...

This. Just yesterday I bought a batch of films, DVD's 1$ and Blu-Rays 1,5$ a piece. And they were mostly new films.

DVD's are perfectly fine for TV and Blu-Rays for my projector.

I never jumped to the streaming bandwagon and my disc collection has grown exponentially in the last few years, since most people gave up on discs. Their loss.

The obsession with social media is fucked up, in my opinion. All the AV- and IT-gear in my school were my responsibility for almost 20 years, I got nothing but praise from everyone. Keeping everything running smoothly was easy and I enjoyed it.

Then one day our principal added "social media presence" to the list of my duties. I asked what that meant. "Well, posting weekly on Instagram and Facebook so that the community can see what good work we do here!"

I resigned from the AV- and IT-duties at that moment. I have zero interest in touching those platforms and I consider posting pictures of students or their work online as a very bad idea.

The principal was visibly shocked by my reaction but could not deny the resignation of my duties, since everyone else had gotten to change their duty roles yearly. Now I take care of the woodshop class and materials, which is nice.

Two younger teachers took shared charge of the IT-duties. They have no idea how to handle any problems, nothing works anymore and people are pissed off, but now we have pictures on the Internet.

I did this once. My class was on a booze cruise, I had lost the keycard to my cabin, was gloriously drunk and all my buddies were somewhere. I ended up chatting with a group of girls in the cabin next door and I had had a crush on one of them for years.

Suddenly the other girls had to leave for some reason and there were just the two of us. I complained that I had nowhere to sleep since I lost my keycard, my crush looked me in the eyes for a long time and said "There is this bed, you know. You could sleep here."

"I couldn't possibly bother you with this, I'll go and try find my friends. Thanks for the chat!" was my only response. I remember clearly how dumbfounded she looked as I left and waved goodbye.

I realized later what I had done. I have never forgiven myself.

No, it's very real. They even sell rank badges, which are apparently sold out at the moment:
