If you go in with that attitude, though, are you there to try to convert people to your side. Or are you only there to berate them and make yourself feel better for having done so?

That doesn't mean you put up with bad faith engagement. That doesn't mean you allow them to burden you with the emotional and mental weight of the argument. That they can watch the consequences without fear of it harming their self is exactly why you need to watch your language. They lose nothing staying where they are, you need to convince them to give up resources (mental, emotional, financial) of their own to take up your position.

So, don't put up with bullshit, and you don't have to be nice about it, but you do have to be patient of your goal is to actually convert people over. Not everyone's role is to convert people, though, some people are only fighters. Just make sure the fighting is directed in the right places.

Came here to leave the same comment! I have such distinct memories of Gunman, but could never remember the name of the game.

Doesn't that imply it isn't a core feature from the perspective of the devs? If they haven't enhanced it by now, I wouldn't expect them to going forward. For what it's worth, the lackluster space combat is my biggest gripe with the game, but I just don't play NMS when I'm looking for a space dogfight then.

That would probably make it more interesting for many, but it was never meant to be a combat focused game so it makes sense that they haven't added it.

I was tired and think I had wires crossed on Terraforming Mars and Planet Crafter. Though, I'm not sure what parts of NMS are being focused on? Resource management with a space theme? There you go!

I'm not sure what you're looking for in a "game like NMS", but

  • Elite Dangerous
  • X4
  • Outer Worlds
  • Endless Space
  • Homeworld
  • Starfield
  • Star Citizen
  • Everspace

Or "base"-building

  • Satisfactory
  • Astroneer
  • Terraforming Mars

Not sure what you're exactly looking for that NMS doesn't scratch the itch of, but these are all games myself or friends have played that touch some of the same areas. Though, I understand the pain of "this game is so close to perfect for what I'm looking for, except for this one part that makes it unplayable to me".

Maybe? But all the resources Valves puts towards supporting Proton benefits everyone gaming on Linux, even those not using a Steam client.

It's Steam; you might wish they had more support on Linux, but you can't say that Steam doesn't support Linux.

Work at a tech store; the technicians that build the PCs for customers recently tried building with the new Core Ultra 7 256K. Two processors were dead or unstable right out of thr box. Tried with known good RAM, two different cpus on two different motherboards. It seems that Intel hasn't really fixed their stability issue, which should be their first concern.

Ah, fair! For me, the switching between music and oration would be a bigger distraction than one or the other on their own.

Genuine question, why not try different podcasts? There are a variety of subjects, and plenty that are current events/news related for niche communities. That doesn't mix music between episodes, but let's you find discussions on topics you're interested in.
