They’re blocking it actively now. For me, it requires a tampermonkey script to bypass the blocker check in Firefox.

So yeah. Super duper made up.

This feels super duper made up

I have had PIA for years on desktop and mobile with firefox and it's been fine. Any reason I should consider switching, or is it still generally good for privacy?

I occasionally torrent. But I'd like to browse and post politically sensitive content safely. Here on Lemmy, but also other non federated places.

Thanks

This isn't as true in tech companies as it was in traditional companies years ago. Most high level engineers take an individual contributor role that allow you to be promoted without becoming a manager. At Google it's called a staff role. At Amazon it's a principal role.

I have a bunch of uhd discs that are full of meandering loading crap. The HD Blu Ray era was worse, and that's what I think drove people away. It's obviously too little too late on the newer stuff.

For real though

I genuinely believe more people would have kept uaing physical media if they made it more convenient just to pop in a movie and play it.

Everytime I put in a 4k blu Ray, there's like 40 seconds of useless loading screens, unskippabble warnings, menu animations, and other bullshit. It feels like the old days of massively overcooked multimedia "experiences" in the worst way possible.

What's the make and model number? The link is funky if your AMZN location isn't set to UK

Counterpoint: congress does their jobs exactly how their corporate owners want them to. Congress does not serve the best interests of the people.

I think it's pretty scary. Completely overwhelming the media and internet with near-infinite variations of their propaganda is the most powerful way I can imagine for them to carry out the stuff you're more worried about, with even less resistance.

It's not the lack of AI safeguards themselves that worry me, it's the constant stream of propaganda drowning out reality that worries me.

I've tried a couple and they all return worse results on average. Scrolling down past the LLM garbage and paying attention to which results are real is less work than re-querying DDG 4 times to get a decent result.

I haven't tried kagi, but I've heard similar anecdotes here on Lemmy. I'm not opposed to paying. The ad model is unsustainably at best.
