Yeah, but what if we all just install Linux?

On Lemmy I usually block communities, if they are a drag in any way, like too negative, too weird, too much discussion of violence, etc. Didn't have to block individuals that much, but in smaller communities it's sometimes just an individual that makes it a drag, while most users post more pleasant things.

People age 70 and up are not allowed to self-host, I see.

Who builds a gun range in a way that bullets can escape if shot from appropriate positions?

If my driving teacher was right, as long as you don't go on a highway you can even push a wheelbarrow on a road, since it has a wheel.

On a highway your wheelbarrow needs to be able to do 60km/h, but if you can run that fast you are good.

(I learned to drive in Germany)

Interesting concept. Could be a useful service to people, could also just a means to analyse player habits for marketing and game design purposes.

Is anyone using this, and has it had any positive impact for you?

An Airbnb host once deposited a key at a shop that was closed on the day of my arrival. This made it impossible to access the place. All I got was a refund for that day, and had to search for an alternative myself.

Needed to be executed quickly before he dies by himself!

Well, it seems like Threads had a hype at some point that died down again.

After playing Juno New Origins for quite a while, I am really hyped for this game. It seems like you can really build anything with engines.

So far, there is only some user settings accessible in the web interface. I don't have an iPhone, hence I cannot say for their app. The android app will come later, apparently.

I really wonder if this is just a different frontend for pixelfed that is video-centric, or if it will be something else.

Since it is supposed to be the TikTok of the fediverse, I really wonder if it will, like pixelfed also just feature a chronological timeline? Because what makes TikTok so popular is not the short videos, but the recommendation algorithm that doesn't even require people to follow any accounts.

If it's just another chronological media feed then they could have just modified pixelfed to only allow video upload and would jabe archived the same thing. So far I am really wondering if loops is a new thing, or if it will be just another reskin of mastodon/pixelfed/...

I just made an account in bluesky. And was greeted by lots of anime tits. Nothing against people's preferences, but is this how businesses nowadays greet new customers? I mean, they are trying to build a twitter alternative, aren't they?

Should be easy to use, remember what I bought before and propose things that are probably running out (based on my personal buying frequency), and allow sharing the list between multiple people. Ideally also allow adding recipes for meals that I cook often.

Hi,

I have a mastodon account and would like to follow some newspapers with that. I just did, but the newspapers are posting so much that my whole timeline is just spammed with their posts. Often also stuff I am not interested in.

Is anyone else here following newspapers on mastodon? How are you handling the spam?

The alarmism around AI is just a marketing spin.

As @pluralistic@mamot.fr wrote: that's "mystical nonsense about spontaneous consciousness arising from applied statistics".

Real problems we face with AI are:

Ghost labor, erosion of the rights of artists, costs of automation, the climate impact of data-centers and the human impact of biased, opaque, incompetent and unfit algorithmic systems.
