In short: it's gone "full legal" mode. Blocking most used streaming sites and removed their API access. So it's literally unusable for folks sailing the high seas.

This seems to be a solid starter, Syl is a great and funny guy to watch too :)

It does have a steep learning curve, I'd suggest watching some content on it if you're struggling. RunningManZ is a great content creator for Dayz.

Dayz.

Just hit 3.5k hours and it's still the most exciting game I've ever played. Nothing else gives the same adrenaline kick as a good encounter or a fight in Dayz. Also a great game for meeting new people as talking to others in this game is a must.

I believe many quite a few people are against it, but afraid of speaking up - knowing they'll be dragged into a back alley of they do.

At least this one isnt hosted on Github, so assume its more difficult for them to take this one down(?)

This must be quite a big decision really, considering there are a lot of Russian players into the Stalker Universe.

But good on them, fuck em!

Very wholesome of you to make and share this, thank you!

[–] Sunny@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 weeks ago

Definitely! I was also distro-hopping a bit for fun and to see what would fit my workflow - so it didnt cost me anything extra really.

So far so good! Have tested the system for a little while now, and have not been able to run into the same issues as before - so this might have solved the issues I've been having. While Ubuntu is not my first choice of distro, I will choose it any time of the day over Windows!

[–] Sunny@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I have not. If the issues remain on Ubuntu i will check for sure. Thank you.

I'll check this, but this does happen also when not on wifi. I can only use my hotspot for wifi - as my company doesnt allow "uncertified" laptops to access their wifi.

Hiya, I am looking into a few different services to better manage my finances, among the highest recommended ones there is ActualBudget. Actualbugdet itself is opensource and private, however, to get the most out of this service you may connect it to your bank, via a third party service. Has anyone here actually done this? The service (for EU folks) is called GoCardless. This however, to me is ringing many alarms..

Here is the screenshot showing the message before connecting to my bank..

Here GoCardless's list of partners/suppliers:

I assume there is no private alternative that allows you to connect to your bank into AcualBudget or another service, if so please let me know! Managing finances would be so much more convenient if it all was automatically synced into a self-hosted service.

Let me know how you manage your finances :)

These small little handy-dandy devices seem to get more and more popular. Anyone here chipped in for a JetKVM yet? Looks and sounds pretty solid. Are there a lot of you that have aquired a nanoKVM?

I am using Proton Calendar, hoping there is some service that allows me to subscribe to their service/.ics so that it integrates nicely into my calendar. If anyone have any idea of a such service then let me know :)

Hiya,

Working on completely replacing Spotify completely. Soulseek has popped up a few times here and there among forums and here on lemmy, so I thought I'd give that a go. I've started with getting Nicotine+ client and seems to be working fine. However, what does the traffic look like when downloading/uploading things over the Soulseek network? I read its peer-to-peer network, but does that mean I don't need a VPN? I'm also told to open a port on my router, I'm assuming this is so that I can share my own library with the rest of the network, but how safe is this?

If anyone could help my clarify this I'd greatly appreciate it!

Edit: Just found this very promising project too! https://github.com/slskd/slskd

Hey there!

I'm thinking about starting a blog about privacy guides, security, self-hosting, and other shenanigans, just for my own pleasure. I have my own server running Unraid and have been looking at self-hosting Ghost as the blog platform. However, I am wondering how "safe" it is to use one's own homelab for this. If you have any experience regarding this topic, I would gladly appreciate some tips.

I understand that it's relatively cheap to get a VPS, and that is always an option, but it is always more fun to self-host on one's own bare metal! :)

Hi folks,

Just set up Nginx Proxy Manager + Pihole and a new domain with Porkbun. All is working and I have all my services service.mydomain.com, however some services such as pihole seem to be strictly reachable with /admin at the end. This means with my current setup it only directs me to pihole.mydomain.com which leads to a 403 Forbidden.

This is what I have tried, but with no prevail. Not really getting the hang of this so would really appriciate a pinpoint on this :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm still on the learning path of Linux. But there doesn't seem to many forks of OpenSuse? There are a bunch of forks of Arch, Fedora and Debian, but why not OpenSuse? Is it a license problem or something else?

Hi there, I've just done the switch from NextDNS to PiHole. Simply because I want to test it out + self-host my DNS. I set up PiHole+Unbound two days ago, and yesterday the amount of "Queries blocked" was much higher that it is now. But this morning the number was down back to 100ish. Is this normal behaviour, is it supposed to reset the counter? I'd rather it didn't. Let me know if this is my fault or a setting I've managed to miss.

Thank you.
