Wait, what wheels?

I’m old. I love music, I love film, I enjoy the craft of writing and appreciate what it takes to write a story that will play out visually and be spoken aloud and embodied by different types of artists and then lit by another type of artist and shot by another type of artist.

Age has nothing to do with liking art. Taste does. You either hate art or you just are very bad at finding things to enjoy.

But how much will we accept? Every step of tech was only ever used to increase production while workers got zero benefits. Now, artists will be expected to churn out way, way more because they have AI. Their pay won’t go up. If anything it will probably try to go down—if that was possible for artists.

Just because these things seem inevitable and fighting them is like fighting the tides, the conversation needs to be about how can we spread out the benefit. Share the wealth of easing the workload. And when something like that is suggested, the initial reaction is one of hesitation and “well, that’s not gonna work.” Because we’ve been conditioned into this insane world of benefit going up and workload being shoved down the ladder.

It’s created an already unsustainable world where people are worked to death while profits, profitability, and productivity soar, quality goes down, worker standard of living goes down, buying power of our paychecks go down and prices for everything only go up, profits are hoarded, untaxed, inequality explodes and we are all meant to just take it.

And then there are plenty of workers among us that think, “eh, what are you gonna do? It’s inevitable.” We can’t think like that. The line needed to be drawn fuckin ages ago. Accepting more of the same should be out of the question.

Lol all available movies and all available tv shows from all time are trash?

“I don’t subscribe to ‘sPoTiFy’ or ‘aPpLe MuSiC.’ When I hit 22 I realized music SUUUUCKS.”

To write off entire art forms is…an interesting position to take.

“Bonzo horseshit” is the new “cellar door”

Artists: they’re stealing our work and building a company on it!

This outlet, years later: breaking news! Generative AI is hurting Disney’s bottom line by making Star Wars characters!

And why, if you have photographic evidence of grand theft, you’d text the person who stole with just “this is Erica from the dentist office.”

I have a feeling this internet person is making stuff up.

Wow. I was shockingly close for not having heard that audio since 2006 or so:

“there’s an old saying in Texas—maybe in Tennessee but probably in Texas—fool me once shame on…shame on you. F-…fool me…fool me can’t get fooled again.”

I don’t know if I should be proud of that or cry for the loss of my youth to being angry at that asshole. I absolutely hate how much people seem to have forgotten how terrible the bush admin really was after trump shifted the terribleness window. It’s almost like he became americas kooky grandpa. But I fuckin remember.

I dunno. Do you remember all the insane shit that came out of his mouth? He was born an idiot, he was groomed and allowed to be his idiot self, and he was handed the presidency as an idiot. His whole life was led as an idiot. I don’t think he had more foresight than the advisors and speech writers in the moment of answering the question.

And look at the way he started the sentence: “there’s an old saying in Texas—maybe in Tennessee but probably in Texas—fool me once shame on…shame on you. F-…fool me…fool me can’t get fooled again.”

The whole thing was coming out in slops and stutters before he even got to the idiom itself. Corporate media is pretty goddamn low down, but even they wouldn’t splice an incredibly well-known idiom to just repeat him saying “shame on me.”

I’m an idealist. I don’t think technology itself is harmful, but the control over the technology and the purpose of implementation to increase profits when we have the capacity to make human lives better is where the problem lies.

We could end work.

Think about that. We could live a life—

…we could live. Period.

We have that capability, AI could be the final building block to build a utopia. But we are ruled by people who see the world backwards: where people are the fuel to keep the money engine running. Instead of money and technology being the fuel and the machines to make life livable for more people and free.

We as a people aren’t worried about automation because we love our jobs and want to do them forever. We are worried about automation because in this system, under this backwards ass thinking, your career being automated is the system saying, “fuck you, we can increase profits if we destroy your livelihood. And that’s what we’re gonna do. Go take a computer class or something. Eat shit and die.” Capitalism will leave us all to starve and die if it means profits would increase.

I don’t think limiting human capability is the answer. I don’t think limiting human achievement is the answer. The answer is cooperation for the common good. To finally make life about living free and happy, not about making capitalism more profitable for the fewer and fewer people with their hands on the levers.

Ah, yes. Good point.

The concept of them trademarking the google constitution is actually hilariously dark.

If the three point seatbelt were invented today, would the patent be available to all? Or would Volvo just make beaucoup bucks by paywalling it?
