I would maybe suggest modding your defence to a high level, unlocking defence perks, and spamming block. The combat certainly becomes more manageable as you level up, unless you're simply fighting a group of people by yourself. Then it never gets easier.

I know the video you are referencing - I think it's this one.

I don't know about this, but only because Steam has a very unique position in their market. Lots of intense loyalists for Steam means long-term projects yield hype and reputation.

For example, the Steam Deck was a high cost high impact long-term project, and it wasn't even in the interest of leading the handheld gaming market. It still brought them a lot of good press, and it also spearheaded the adoption of handheld gaming PCs - whether running SteamOS, Windows, or other linux distros - most of which are using Steam as the primary gaming library.

They just know that line going up steadily is more valuable than line going up exponentially until people get sick of your shit.

Let me tell you, though. Even 5 years is enough to make any sort of potential employer wrinkle their nose at your application. I had to dig hard through my grave topsoil.

Any advice? I had a long hiatus from trying to get a degree due to depression/anxiety, and I fear I'll also have a hard time explaining the gap away.

This seems to be how I see it used most. I usually stick to calling people tankies when they walk around explicitly talking about how proud they are to be one.

Tankie doesn't really mean anything to me anymore. Even self-proclaimed tankies often have trouble defining it in a way that is consistent among leftist groups.

True, but one is a situation, and the other is a person. I didn't know that the existence of Xi Jinping was a controversial idea in China...

I'm not too knowledgable on all the lore, but iirc:

  • Space Marines are engineered supersoldiers who see humans as puny livestock
  • The leader is an emperor, also known as god-emperor, whose word is law
  • Pretty much all of their technological advancements exist to kill/control
  • Their creed is basically to eradicate all non-believers (heretics) and non-humans (unless the non-humans can benefit them)
  • Slavery is pretty much the standard for punishing people who oppose the god-emperor (if not death)
  • A lot of other things

Basically, the entire main faction is a hyper-fascist, fundamentalist, imperial, and ultra-violent organization. A lot of the other factions operate with a similar amount of cruelty and violence.

The point is that no faction in Warhammer can really be known as "the good guys." I always perceived the 40k universe as a caricature of some of the worst aspects of mankind, but I play along as a cog in the machine, knowing it's bad. Neo-nazis tend to perceive the Astartes/Space Marines as glorious heroes. It's akin to alt-righters enjoy Starship Troopers and Rage Against the Machine, without recognizing the irony.

You're lucky then. I have had multiple flatmates who don't understand what a nonstick pan is, scraped the pans up, and continued to use them. Despite warning.

I like how he went from the Caesar cut and bland shirt to the style of what current-day 16-20 year old guys are rockin.

And by "like," I mean that I'm glad he still looks uncanny despite how normal his new style is, because he's a POS and nobody should sympathize with him.
