I was skeptical until I saw a GitHub link on the page

And please, for the love of god, let me look at a movie for longer than 1 second before you start automatically playing it

This is a setting that's on be default and buried in the user settings. It might also only be available to change on desktop (but will then set per profile for all devices), but this setting does exist and it's so much better once you toggle it

Edit: quick research is looking like I'm entirely misremembering and entirely wrong. Quoting my original comment for posterity

If I'm remembering my history correctly, they actually had a similar problem in the early 20th century with movie theaters and movie studios. Studios would strong arm theatres into restrictive contracts for what they could screen, and when it looked too much like a federal law would drop restricting their behavior the industry instead opted to self-regulate and formed a private regulatory body

Eh, honestly the current situation is still better than cable. Having to only watch what was being played, no choice in what episode of a show you watch and chasing the channel's schedule rather than getting to pick what you want to watch when is still far worse than what we have now with on-demand streaming

A colleague of mine recommended https://bulkmemorycards.com/ saying every device he's gotten from them was exactly as advertised. I've yet to need to order more but I bookmarked it for the next time I need to order more boot drives

Reminds me of a device I heard about that just copies a music file and then deletes the copy and counts how many times that file has been copied as a commentary on the dialogue surrounding piracy

IMO, blockchain technology is good for one use case: illegal transactions.

If the friction of translating your fiat money into cryptocurrencies and back is low enough it can be a very good method for collecting digital donations. Potentially no fees to send/receive money, no real national restrictions to speak of and then its stored as a value that the recipient can use however they want, plus donors can trace where the money goes if the person they donated to then turns around and donates a portion to another person receiving donations on the blockchain.

Basically the exact same benefits as the use case of illegal transactions, but at least for good rather than usually-not-good

See I could definitely see the NFL rigging this one to try to gain more fans, since the venn diagram of extremely dedicated football fans and extremely dedicated swifties is basically 2 seperate circles, so its a significant growth opportunity for the NFL

This involves bulls inseminating the cows or more commonly non-consensual artificial insemination

Animals aren't capable of consenting to anything. They lack both the communication capabilities and the mental facilities to make the kind of decisions that are involved in any kind of consent. This is similar to how the severely mentally disabled are unable to consent and must instead have a caretaker give medical consent.

I'll concede that animal farming practices are generally difficult to justify and align with our modern morals, but farm animals can and often are treated with a level of respect to quality of life that is not far from some pets, just with the added expectation that they also provide for us.

I'm not a soda drinker generally but microbreweries sodas are always so much better than anything the big three put out

I didn't like tea until very recently. Apperently it took about 20 years for me to start liking tea
