I carry around PowerPoint presentations that contain huge loops of satellite data. I love my 1TB USB stick.

I think they are clarifying due to what has happened with Ubisoft. They're also using it as an opportunity to spread the word farther that they won't do the same thing.

Can you recommend some models to try?

It's pretty amazing to me that a company hasanagednto become so reviled that Walmart is the better and more ethical option.

Whether they have wifi on ship or not isn't the issue. Sometimes, when a ship goes into an operation, they will turn off all signals except passive or directed signals so that they can't easily be detected. Having a communications signal that isn't under the control of the ship's officers is a huge security risk during operations.

Someone is going to be court martialed over this.

Video tape isn't really that durable over time. Most of the info I can find comes from digitization services, but they are fairly consistent in saying that, for tapes that are stored in "normal" conditions, you can expect 10-25% degradation in 20 years. These tapes are 40 years old. They have likely degraded significantly already and may fall apart when played.

There are places a skinny naked person can hide things. What do we do about that?

I don't think they really query one another. Maybe they do though?

I wonder how undergrads would do on the same exams given unlimited time and internet access but with LLMs blocked. That's essentially what the LLMs have.

As someone who contributes to FOSS projects, I think you put too much trust in the ability of the community to police such things. There simply aren't enough people reviewing project code to ensure it's safety and compliance if a maintainer or team decide to follow bad local laws or act explicitly in a malicious way. Some things get caught but I'm sure there are things thst slip through.

Even without access to Direct File since I wasn't in a pilot state, I've been using the IRS' "Free Fillable Forms" for the last few years and they've worked great! They don't hold your hand as much as the paid software but for my returns they've been more than adequate and free!

Does anyone know how "Direct File" differs from the "Free Fillable Forms"? Does it hold your hand a little more and help you find credits/deductions? Free Fillable Forms worked well, but only so long as I knew what I needed to file. New circumstances, like adding a dependent, lead to a lot of research.

I came here to say the same thing. We don't judge Gone With The Wind by current standards. Why judge Star Wars by current standards? It's half a century old and societal morals and norms have changed significantly.
