Interesting stuff thanks for adding. I added an edit to address. Appreciate you chiming in

Totally fair, lots of folks have chimed in about it. Really interesting to see it's over 100 years old (although more focused on ideal partner, not avoiding being creepy)

That's really interesting, thanks for sharing!

Just for a little context, the minimum age being ((your age / 2)+7) is meant to be "this is the minimum age of someone you can date without it being creepy" (i believe it originated from the TV show how i met your mother)

If you were born in 1994 you are either 30 or 31. Let's call it 30 for easy math.

30/2 = 15 15+7=22

So anyone who is 22 or older fits the minimum age concept, which is anyone born in approx 2002/2003 or earlier. If you decided to include that, the extra 4-5 years does increase the dating pool quite a bit.

I'm not telling you who to date, just giving a little context to the math since that's what was brought up in the original comment.

Edit: Lots of folks chiming in with some really good insight about the history of the math. Thank you all for that!

Although the historical accounts seem to be math for the "ideal age" in a (probably female) partner and not "minimum age before it's creepy" as it was presented in HIMYM, it's really interesting to see how that equation has been used for over 100 years!

Yeah but D4 is designed to be an MMO and is open world, where last epoch is linear. It's hard to try to bake in the exact same mechanics when the games are so different

Additionally, that's a minor aspect of d4. For each alt i need to run around to every region and do all these side quests to get reputation points, and i need to do it in each difficulty. I have to do it multiple times, whereas i don't really need to do that in last epoch.

I'll reiterate that if you try the skips as designed it'll be close to what you want. But i agree that it needs improving. D4 is an objectively much worse game than LE; i absolutely do not think that LE should strive to be more like it.

How much have you actually played both games?

I'm not entirely sure what you're requesting then. The end game monoliths start at level 58, and the lowest level I've been able to complete them without dying repeatedly is level 30 or so. The campaign skips start at level 20, and give passive and idol slots. Are you asking for the game to just start your alternates at level 60? I'm not following.

Additionally, once you unlock your mastery at the end of time, you can just go straight to the end game monoliths on a second character - there's literally nothing stopping you from doing this.

As it stands, you can skip 3/4 of the story if you use the current method. Now that you can skip dungeons and go straight to the dungeon boss, you are easily able to bypass a ton of story, and fairly quickly. I have 6 characters in this season, and i did the campaign skip on each one. You can get past the entire campaign in about 90 minutes with this method now, which doesn't seem too bad you me. You also get passive points and idol slots for completing the skips. You can actually skip almost straight from the first major part of the ruined era (level 20) all the way to the level 50 era in a matter of minutes. If you're geared up for this, go for it!

When i said i was contesting it, i was conceding to you that i somewhat agree with the skip function needing improvements. That being said, I do think as they're adding general game improvements, it is making the idea of having alternate characters much better and easier.

There actually is a campaign skip. It's baked into the map via the dungeons (and you can skip to boss now with charms), but you can skip two thirds of it on a second playthrough.

I'll contest that i think the skip function needs a little work but it does exist

You may enjoy Last Epoch. It definitely scratches that itch for me, and is a bit more entertaining than TL imo

I recommend the battle beast cover! It just sounds so much better to me with noora singing the lyrics

While i understand and agree with the premise, i think it's lacking context. It is quite disturbing to have an obscure conversation (you know, we've never been to tahiti), and suddenly you're getting banner ads or sponsored results about trips to tahiti.

This is absolutely a thing that happens. It happens to my wife frequently (the amount of times i hear giggling, i was just talking about that! Now I've got an ad! What a coincidence!), but i disabled all my google permissions (outside of location for maps), so it doesn't seem to happen to me at all.

I don't think every company does this, but some do. I also had to uninstall WhatsApp because my microphone usage was up while i was sleeping. That was quite concerning to discover. Whatsapp claims it's a bug, but I'm not sure about that.

One of the finer points of something new is getting in at the right time. I have to imagine if you're a streamer and you force yourself to stay on your old game "for the fans," you could miss out on the shiny new thing that people care about. This could literally cost them money that they need for rent. I am confident that many streamers are not highly paid and depend on this income.

Don't forget, fans are fickle, corporations are fickle, everyone is fickle. I don't think any employee of a company should be loyal to that company if it is to their own detriment as that company will let their employees go if it needs to (better companies try harder, worse companies make worse decisions).

I don't see why a streamer should treat their career differently. Do what you think is best for you. Streamers don't owe me, the fan, and it doesn't do me any good for them to force themselves to play a game they're less interested in just to appease me.

Oof I'll be on the lookout for that, thanks for the explanation without too much spoiler. I really haven't been fond of combat for the last several final fantasy iterations, but i have some hope that XVI at least delivers on story.
