yes, it's the same ownership (scroll down to the bottom). they have dozens of sites. don't know of any specific addons to help with them, though. custom ublock origin rules, perhaps.

some of our clients are on what the telco calls 'extended' dsl. they're waaaay tf out at the 'end of the line' where speeds can be as shitty as 250-500kbps; there's even a couple still on dialup. so we definitely consider the weight of a page and how many connections are made for each when we do our own sites.

my own site for my very small business gets about 10 legit visitors a week, none of which have ever connected via a known vpn address (dating back some 15 years). another 100 page views a week on average from legit bots (msn, google, etc).

the rest (and well over 95% of overall traffic) is bots, scrapers, and hackers, many of which use addresses linked to vpn services and pound the sites on the server looking for exploitable scripts (wordpress related, usually; which we've never run here), login and contact forms. if i could simply 'flip a switch' and redirect all vpn traffic to a separate landing page, i would seriously consider doing so. it wouldn't affect site availability to our legit users and our target audience. but for now, mod_security is doing a stellar job and is the mvp.

In a follow-up post a day after his initial Tweet, Johnie noted “inaccuracy in the ASUS router tool,” with regard to Apple iMessage data use. Other LG smart washing machine users showed device data use from their router UIs. It turns out that these appliances more typically use less than 1MB per day.

the writer knew that the stats were bunk, yet wrote the article anyway. the site knew this, too, tacked-on the clickbait headline and published it. toms really has gone to shit the last few years--at least under the current ownership (last changed hands 2018).

when we've had netflix (off and on a couple months at a time, last was about a year and a half ago), we often encountered 540p max playback on "hd" titles that should have (legitimately) been streaming at 1080p; and we rarely were able to use all the simultaneous connections of the plan (usually only limit-1)

I don’t mind ads,

you should.. especially on facebook.

ads on facebook, which includes 'sponsored' bullshit in your feed, are dangerous. links to bogus malware-infested and scareware/support scams are quite common in those. i have a couple users a month, at least, get tripped-up by one of those.

that's how far and fast microsoft has gone backwards since the release of the GOAT windows.

hardly any issues here, either. and we abuse tf out of firefox.. 300+ tabs? stay open for days on end? multiple addons? on c2d-era desktops? no problem.

that's fine if you have the patience for their shipping shenanigans. they sit on orders for days and/or ship from distant warehouses when you don't have the prime sub.
