snooze.. snooze.. snooze.. snooze... snooze...

alarm clock gives in. shuts it down until tomorrow.

but my flip phone, i have to open and push the correct button to shut off an alarm. that's enough to wake me up enough to piss me off. so i guess it 'works'.

enterprise device management and reporting unknown quantities of data back to hp are two different things.

most** hp printers don't ship with the hard-core third-party ink/toner block. that's in the firmware updates.

never update the firmware of an hp printer if you use, or think you might want to use some day, third-party consumables or refills.

if you 'subscribe' to ink, you're fucked, as that service requires automatic firmware updates be enabled.

**some do now, those should be labeled as such on the box--'must use hp ink for life of printer' or some bullshit.

iirc, they are banned... to cell phones, with very limited exceptions.

but that relies on honest callers, and sufficient resources being available to adequately enforce.

it's been a few months since i've had that pc booted-up, but i think this is the one:

https://www.videohelp.com/software/Subtitle-Workshop

note that i don't create or translate subs, all i really use it for is for adjusting timing of the whole file (using vlc to find the + or -), and the occasional edit or delete of an existing line.

i've had ads inside of subs downloaded via browser. whenever i see them, i load 'em up in my sub editor and remove them. i usually have to adjust timing anyway as my sources are rarely the same.

they keep moving that shit around, too. seems like i'm always finding some new crevice they've hidden some setting they don't want you to know about.

windows costs money, per device. microsoft places limits, pretty strict ones, on how far oems can go wrt customizations of the oobe, the ui/ux, and other shit. valve didn't chose linux because of anything other than it was the only reasonable choice for what they wanted to produce.

if you built a $2000 desktop and didn't specifically go out and source old parts... it's got one, most likely, you've just chosen to not enable it. intel and amd cpu have them built-in and motherboards and their bios support those. they don't need headers for a module or a discrete tpm chip on the board.

in 1990, $8-10 a carton; nowadays it's barely worth the short drive there--they price them 'just under' regular retail price here.
