Kbin doesn’t seem like it’s going anywhere. The repos are dead (one commit in the last two months, written in php which is not promising for new contributors), there’s really only one instance of it, and I don’t know of any communities hosted there. There’s also no app support, which is crucial for me to actually use the platform. The concept is good so I’d love to see it continue, but I also wouldn’t invest anything in the platform at this time.

If not Lemmy, what else? Last summer I looked around and Lemmy seemed to be by far the largest that wasn’t on a single topic (ex, Hacker news)

It’s not the same as with warehouse workers, but Amazon does have a reputation of being a brutal employer for software engineers

I live in a big city and most of my Amazon orders arrive the next day

If you use CUDA, you can now use AMD GPUs instead of only being able to use Nvidia. Otherwise, it doesn’t mean much.

It seems reasonable given it includes multiple AI models.

Let’s hope it’s not region locked, or if it is, maybe at least trivial to bypass.

Microsoft has done this already for tons of windows applications. For example, open up powershell and run “curl”. It’s a http downloader program, but not the one you think of, and the args are completely different. This has been the case for years, yet you can still find answers for curl problems by searching. I don’t see this being any different.

Don’t most crypto users use one of a handful of highly centralized exchanges anyways? Like sure you can self host everything, but you can do that with real money too, and most people don’t have the care nor the skill to do it.

What proof do you want? Real currency can be printed on paper or forged into coins, and then used until the physical medium wears out with zero electrical usage and zero transaction fees. No digital currency of any form can beat literally zero.

Real currencies use significantly less power despite orders of magnitude higher transaction volumes. They also have physical exchange options that incur no transaction costs and require no digital infrastructure. Crypto is just bad as a currency.

The very top model is the Pro Max. Pro is the second top model, by price. But yeah…

As a side note, the cable is actually really nice if usb 2 is fine. It’s super flexible and braided, all of my other braided cables are much more stiff. I would buy a longer one if they made one.
