Yes I myself would check if it works with home assistant before purchase , but also there should be some guaranteed period for majority users who want features but not bother with self hosting.

Had a old APC that worked for many years. Brought a new back-ups 1100va few years ago , wasn't the quality I expected.

Yep , auto manufacturers needs incentive to develop a open protocol such as this. Its not a easy task as this would need to be complaint with many regulations and safety standards. I have some hope for the SDV (software defined vehicle) future like COVESA where the industry is moving towards an opensource architecture but for user softwares you're right its totally with the manufacturer to allow such open api to users.

Not exactly Linux , but for android ViMusic works great. It gets from YouTube music. https://github.com/vfsfitvnm/ViMusic Its available in fdroid.

Actually you dont need to trust a upstream DNS server. Checkout dnscrypt-proxy in github. You can use dnscrypt with Anonymized DNS relays. You can use the IP of this dnscrypt-proxy as your DNS resolver.

Sorting by date would be so much better with yyyymmdd .
