Correct. They banned people and then undid the changes.

What do you think the hardest challenge would be?

I’m a software developer but I don’t know too much about working with de-federated services, but I would be interested in working on a Stack for us, if it was feasible and maybe we got a few more devs on board.

This is something I have tried to convey since I came here when people are fantasising about the death of Reddit, I just couldn’t put it as eloquent as yourself.

I take the approach that me not using Reddit, or Amazon or whatever else is a choice I make so I can live with myself, and not that I believe it will have an impact.

I have alluded to this in previous comments in the past, that many of the choices I make actually negatively impact me more than the company I’m avoiding. Example: Not using WhatsApp means I can’t join group chats with friends as they won’t use signal as the things I care about, are meaningless to them. Or that I can’t find some items to buy except from on Amazon so I just won’t buy them etc.

All we can do is stick to our own morals and let others do as they will as it’s futile to make people care about the things we think they should.

I wonder if people are writing these things or using an AI to describe an action in the style of, I don’t know, a non-human or a robot.

If it’s the latter I’ll love to get the prompt for making these as they’re quite amusing.

I’m interested in seeing the statistics for this, as I’m looking at a new ev and it would be nice to see.

Because you wouldn’t just make something up would you, you must have the figures to substantiate your claim.

This is my argument.

I don’t believe my choices have an impact at all, in fact they impact me more negatively than the things I avoid.

But I can sleep at night knowing I am not giving them my money, or my business, etc.

It’s like with the Reddit exodus and people thinking it would / will be the death of Reddit. The truth is they barley noticed we left and they certainly don’t care, but again morals.

You never know, this thread could make more people think like this and make conscious choices where you can, for yourself so you know you tried to not be a part of the problem.

Maybe not, but individuals can choose where to spend their money. The masses will still buy this shit, but I am the kinda guy will will make his own life harder based on morals.

Like I ain’t shopped on Amazon for years. Some stuff I just can’t find anymore. Not used WhatsApp for many years, makes it harder to join friend group chats. Etc.

There really isn’t, but perhaps they should be honest about that.

Also, is Google banned or Google won’t do what China wants so left? I don’t know the answer.

Mans gotta sleep bro. Christ. I’ll reply after work.

And is it wrong to stop at a certain amount of profit.

Why they always want more. I ain’t that greedy.

I dunno. AlphaFold 3 is pretty big.

Why can’t they increase profits, by you know, making the product better.

Do they have to make things shitter to save money and drive away people thus having to make it more shitter.
