This is absolutely an xy problem. Your problem is that you need to programmatically respond to notifications across multiple applications

You are asking for help with a solution based on notification sounds which is one possible solution but a bit of a weird one

I thought basic Auth was where you base64 encoded the username and password and sent it as the Authorization header

I do the same, often set to windows 10 Chrome because websites will silently shittify themselves based on you using Firefox and/or Linux

But why though? If it's because you want to use a steam deck fair enough, otherwise there isn't really any reason to over better desktop OSes

If the reason is for better gaming support bazzite might be the way to go, though honestly any distro can do gaming just fine
