To them it probably is. I've seen literal posts ( or GitHub comments - I forgot ) where they are raging their fps dropped from 420 to 370 with the latest patch and that the game is now completely unplayable!

They have a point complaining because the patch had a big fps drop, but the game is unplayable? At 370fps? Gtfo xD.

There's people playing on a lot less than that.

I looked into that at one point, but 15$/month is quite steep just for that ( imo )

What could go wrong when you let an ad company dictate the browser standards/rules.

I know we have Firefox and some forks like librewolf, but percentage wise it feels like a lost battle ( even if I am on Firefox ).

If only people switched en masse to Firefox for the ad blocker. Wouldn't that be something... One big collective FU to Google.

Oh well. One can dream I guess.

I also wonder what the OS is like. I need things like OxygenOS from OnePlus or something close to stock android.

All the bullshit UI from Samsung or Huawei or whatever is just atrocious. Terrible UI, no longtime support. Extra account shoehorned in.

To be honest my steam Deck doesn't go that far beyond 4h either on a single charge when I lower all the settings.

The .htaccess file does nothing on nginx though.

I guess they might lose customers, but the ad revenue will offset it. Which could be a win for them. Less cars to produce for the same amount of money. If they survive everybody else will probably just follow suit. Like the car functionality subscriptions.

I'm just sad we reached this point.

Ban targeted advertising. Ban data gathering. You won't even have to deal with the f***ing cookie banners anymore.

Note: I am not a lawyer.

You're legally required to help, not risk your own life while doing so. If somebody is drowning you need to call the emergency services and if there is a rescue buoy close by you can throw that as well and try to pull them to shore that way.

I am not a lawyer, but I think in the majority of cases you should be covered by calling the emergency services.

As a side note: unless you're a lifeguard or have had proper training, jumping in to save somebody drowning is dangerous. A person drowning will try to hold on to anything to stay afloat and will likely try to push you under trying to stay above water.

I'm guessing maybe the scheduler? Its the only real difference I see versus the other gaming distros.

In many places WhatsApp is the defacto standard unfortunately.....

If its not that its something like Viber, or badoo or telegram or some other nightmare service...

If you have kids there is also not really getting away from it. Friends of mine have never had Facebook accounts until they had kids because the local football team or boyscout or whatever only uses Facebook to communicate...

I agree you can live your life comfortably without meta services, but sometimes, like in the example above, you dont have any alternatives....

You can't keep harassing other parents to forward you messages or ask the team to print any messages specifically for you. Not having a Facebook account just gets "its easy to create" responses rather than "completely understandable, here's our private matrix server to stay in the loop".

Remember when the real value were the people building amazing games and not just the IP?
