Yeah, I would say that this applies in general. That hat that we associate with a particular kind of socially maladjusted individual is not the faithful fedora but its contemptable cousin: the thrilby.

You're right I sbould have included that in the question. I'm on Hyprland with Wayland so there are quite a few choices. I mentioned rofi (rofi-wayland) and wofi because I can see that they are both options here.

I wouldn't recommend Signal for privacy. It has quite a few concerning issues. There are some good alternatives however. I think Briar is good if privacy is your chief concern. Sam Bent compared some of the other alternatives in this video.

What are some good alternatives to GOS? I want something that can run on most androids that deGoogles while providing general privacy and security. I know nothing will be as good. Bur what is the next best thing?

What does a lockable bootloader mean? Is it just encrypted so the kernel never gets loaded without the user?
