I can heavily recommend tuxedoOS, even on non-tuxedo machines. It's based on ubuntu but has snaps removed and only some small tuxedo apps installed :)

How much support does it have for geodetic engineering? I'd love to be able to use more FOSS Software in this proprietary dominated work field :)
