I am pleased to announce a new version of my CLI text processing with GNU Coreutils ebook. This ebook will help you learn 20+ specialized text processing commands provided by the coreutils package.

This book heavily leans on examples to present features one by one. Exercises at the end of chapters will help you practice what you've learned and solutions are also provided for reference. External links are provided for further reading.

My main motivation was to catch up to any features added in newer versions of these tools, correcting typos, better examples, descriptions, etc. I've also added a few more exercises.

TUI apps for interactive exercises

I also used Textual (Python framework) to create TUI apps. These will help you solve exercises for grep, sed and awk interactively. You can also use any other CLI tool like ripgrep, perl, ruby, etc to solve these questions (as long as the command output matches the expected results).
