I realized how I am biased when i thought "how can he be neither American nor European?"

Would you explain better you set-up? At least a reference to the underlaying system. Is it kubernetes?

What is your "legacy phone"?

Great book Made me consider how we give for granted that research is impartial while actually it is not

Just wiped my HP Stream and installed Fedora. Much faster then Windows

Do you use B2 storage?

I have recently repurposed and old Hp Stream to a home server and successfully run Immich. I really like it and even a small 500GB disk is way more than the 15GB Google offers.

My issue though is about backup. I would only be comfortable if all the data is backed up in an off-site server (cloud). But the back up storage will probably cost as much as paying for a service like ente or similar, directly replacing Google photo.

What am I missing? Where do you store your backup?

What are the benefits of Kubernetes in a home server?

Which Vps provider are you using?

I ended up trying it. In theory it's all nice and useful, because it solves the part that I am not comfortable with (router settings, domains and other connection stuff). But then I don't know Kubernetes so I couldn't understand what I was doing and I was not able to troubleshoot it. And I could not connect to my server remotely anyway.

I would add file managers like midnight commander, ranger, and so on

In my case, I don't technically own the router but it's provided by my service provider. They don't give you the password for the admin access

What are the advantages of kubesail? I couldn't understand it form their website

I only tried a tiling WM for a few days several years ago. I am ok using the terminal but not everything can be done easily there. In the screenshots of people setups, there are always fancy terminals. Are tiling WM good also for other GUI a part from terminals?
