It has more people thus a more proportional selection of the population. Hence ur specific echo chamber will be challenged.

The federarion on mastodon is dodgy cos they dont have a central object to federate to/subscribe to like we have in the form of a community. Hence they have all sorts of weird issues of things only federating to instances that are involved in the operation or some shit i cant remeber exactly. End of the day federation favours large instances and suppresses smaller instances. I believe mastodon devs have said this isnt a bug and is intended as as such wont be fixed.

Whats that python flask based lemmy server i would like to take a look at seeing how hard it would be to implement mastodon routes into that and fix the issues.

I would reccommend donating to ur instances over the devs. The instances have ongoing costs that if not paid will shut down the fediverse far quicker than a slowed development cycle

Is the loops app on fdroid?

The fediverse will have the same growths as most foss. It will start slow and continue to grow slowly forever. It will always be a bit behind the cutting edge but it will never get worse only get better. Its like evolution it gets forked the best fork wins the reat die repeat.

Every enshitification cycle we will gain a few people and once we have them we have they stay a lot longer than most other platforms. We will not win through mass adoption but through a long slow a painfull proccess of gradual accumulation.

And at some point it will become dominant eg blender, a bunch of standards, and linux in the server space. The tech companies live on the edge forever trying to outrun the snail that will kill them instantly when it touches them. Foss is coming it cannot be stopped it will find them and it will kill them

I really dont think we should be bending over backwards to accommodate blueskys clearly inferior protocal when activpub is objectivly better

[–] muntedcrocodile@lemm.ee 12 points 1 week ago

Land of the free.

Im looking for an internal usba plug thing for a wireless mouse. I have access to a 3d printer and am wondering if there is some pcb design i can send off to one of those Chinese manufacturers with a parts list.

I would like to run code-server but i don't like the idea of trackers hence codium. I found this old reddit thread but it wasn't particularly helpful.

I did the whole distro chooser quiz but didnt help much.

Heres the things id like to hit

  • avoid systemd
  • stable
  • Wayland support
  • Minimal packages
  • no immutable (seems like to much of a pain)
  • full disk encryption but thats pretty standard nowdays.

Was going to go with devuan but the debian flavours dont have a stable with wayland yet. I was considering going with a testing or unstable build but would like to avoid headaches on a daily driver. Is testing/unstable got wayland and are they reliable enough? If so what do I go with.

Also hows the hardware comparability with framework i assume it wont be too bad to get set up.

Looking for a good foss pastbin service i can easily host with docker. Requirements: Can put a password/account login on past uploading Foss Will auto delete pasts after some time Need a rawtext capability to i can wget things Preferably language heighlighting.

Cos if so why can I see a whole bunch of mod actions on the lemmy.ml mod-log but not here? If it doesn't how/why would any other instance respect a moderation action by another instance let alone know about it?

hope this isn't a violation of rule 3
