Some languages, like Spanish, use a sentence structure that places adjectives after the subject, so IA works in many languages. "Inteligencia artificial" or IA in Spanish.
There are purposes for it, but with the power it would use for basic tasks, I think it is better recycled.

With forcefully powering off, the biggest (or I guess most likely) thing that could happen is losing data. As long as your install wasn't working on updates or major system configuration changes, you'll probably be fine in that regard; it would boot back up just fine.
