If you have systemd installed then using it is fine.
Genuine question: what init do you use & how would you do this? Of course it doesn't need to involve init.

There are forensic fingerprints that match a video to an image sensor. Maybe they could be faked by a sophisticated actor but let's be honest: the people watching these videos aren't checking that closely.
