I...haven't seen a single one of those. Any of it.

I noticed that for the first time yesterday.

Today, I don't see them. I guess maybe moderation and/or blocking is working.

Seems likely to be very low so far.

Although it's getting enough attention lately that this may change.

They currently have no plans for advertisement.

On what they're currently planning to bring in money:

That could change at any time, but seems likely to be true for now.

I would guess things will be fine at least up until they either IPO or they get bought by a VC firm or some public corp. That's the point in the ensuing to fixation cycle to move to something else (unless something unexpected happens like they really do nicely federate before then or something else that may save the platform).

So I'm guessing probably at least a couple years that it'll be good, and it's 10000x better than Xitter.

Currently it's like the difference between Pepsi - and a soda company which is currently owned by a madman, and is aggressively, publicly trying to poison its customers, and spread Nazi shit and fascism and whatnot.

A little wider gap than you're saying.

Sure, Pepsi could become that other thing. But it's not currently.

Why would there be appointments at all...?

[–] ripcord@lemmy.world 7 points 5 days ago (2 children)

Does it?

OK, what would they say if they weren't planning on it?

Maybe there was some special or package deal, but no.

Since Twitter is currently really really toxic, dangerous, and run by a maniac; and Bluesky currently is not (it's actually been amazingly non-toxic)...I strongly disagree.

Even shittier anaology, but it's more like moving from a house that has an active gas leak to a house that has gas pipes in the house. Has potential for leaks, but there aren't any right now. And it currently has working gas leak detectors.
