Maybe it's gotten better since they first dropped, but this article alludes to the storage limitations. I ran into the problem with mine. I remember I had to delete apps and clear app data to get enough space to install an update.

The article also speculates the lack of storage may be why they Android version hasn't been updated on them since release.

Edit: Here's another link describing the problem around the time it launched. https://www.androidcentral.com/chromecast-google-tv-update-extra-storage-space-management

Edit #2: They may have received an Android update the first year after launch, but not since? Sorry but I've gotten a little fuzzy on the details.

Sorry but I'm not sure I understand you. I haven't had mine on in a while (got a Roku) but I recall that there were apps for all the major streaming services.

Will it have enough storage space to update itself if you have more than four apps installed?

Not your fault. I was surprised at the behavior. Lemmy should handle that better. A post in the subscribed list IMO should be more like an abstract or excerpt, with the full text only available when viewing the post.

Took me three days to scroll through this post on my subscribed list in Photon on my phone. 😆

I just did this. Yes, leaving kbin.social was a bit of a pain since I had to resub to my communities manually, but it is a one-time cost. I think it has been worth it because I've been able to be way more active just because the Lemmy instance to which I moved is actually usable. The learning curve is not steep at all and the optional photon and alexandrite front ends are terrific. I'd encourage anyone to make the move.

I'll admit that this approach did not occur to me. If it worked for genre television...

🎶 Bunnies aren't just cute like everybody supposes. They've got those hoppy legs and twitchy little noses. And what's with all the carrots? What do they need such good eyesight for anywayyyy? 🎶

Edit: To be perfectly clear, I've not looked at bunnies the same way since. I suppose we can add that to the list of the many crimes of Joss Whedon, somewhere after "mental and physical abuse of cast and crew" and "killing off Tara and Anya".

Don't get me started. For years people corrected me when I said LEE-nooks instead of Lennox. I finally gave up.

We've had mixed results. Wife and I both had Galaxy Z Flip4. I dropped mine repeatedly and it's still going strong (though I have since upgraded). Wife never abused hers and the inner screen started dying right after the warranty expired. Probably more luck of the draw than flip related.

Sure, I do want the embodied AI that my insurance carrier sends to tell me that my social value score is insufficient to qualify me for life saving cancer treatment to be able to appear as if it empathizes with my plight.
