I like to watch https://toonamiaftermath.com/ on my lunch breaks and they occasionally show old commercials from the 90s. Some of them aged hilariously.

I still play ffxi to this day and I fully remember moments like that. Good nostalgia but I'm also glad they don't make games like that anymore. FFXI itself has been modernized to remove this kind of grind and is still getting new content updates. You should check it out again.

Yeah I'm glad the other guy replied with more details because my fuzzy memory was telling me that the French surrendering stereotype was around back in the 90s at least, but I was pretty young then and it was hard to remember.
