Except for the fact that it is designed to keep you coming back and hopefully paying them for the privaledge whilst making people believe they are learning something useful.
It is in fact counter productive to actually learning a language properly. I used it for a year and a half trying to learn Spanish and in that time I never really learnt anything of worth. On top of that my native Spanish speaking girlfriend told me on numerous occasions that the things it was "teaching" me were flat out incorrect.
I learnt more useful language skills in a month on Busuu than I did in a year and a half using Duolingo. So yes there is a lot of hate because it wasted a lot of my time for absolutely zero benefit and in some cases taught me the wrong things so I had to go back and "unlearn" all the bullshit it constantly pushed to me.
It isn't a tool to bridge a gap, it is a word game designed to get you addicted to "streaks" and then hopefully remove money from your wallet under the guise of teaching you something.
People that seriously want to learn a language should be dissuaded from using this trash app as it is only counter productive to the learning process, they should instead check out Busuu or listen to Language Transfer which is free and vastly superior!
No one is learning any language using shitty Duolingo all they are learning is how to parrot useless phrases and vocab with no explanation on how to form sentences or actually use the language properly for themselves.
Interesting. Just a couple of years ago AI generated audiobooks were unlistenable for me due to the dead voice delivery but the example here actually sounds like it would be alright to listen to.
Definitely want to give this a try for some books that have never had an audio book recording. Thanks for posting!
In no particular order:
Sonic Spinball
Micro Machines 2 Turbo Tournament
Toejam and Earl
General Chaos
Recently I have had an urge to play Hogs of War on PS1 too.
XIII was (and still is) a fucking awesome game. Such a breath of fresh air back then trying something entirely new in terms of art direction on an FPS and nailing it!
Oh, I didn't realise. I've mainly used it for Vita and thought it covered all of PlayStation. Sorry :)
Is it not available on nopaystation? I've never had an issue getting anything from there in the past.
I do like it with those controller attachments, it does improve it further still be sacrifices a bit of portability in terms of no longer being pocket friendly.
I do agree it can be uncomfortsble after a time but for me that is more after hours opposed to minutes but everyone's bodies are different and I can see why is may cramp some peoples hands quicker.
I find with the steam deck it is just a bit too large for me, it makes it feel a bit unwieldy and unstable in my hands for some reason. For me I think the sweet spot in terms of comfort would probably be something in the middle.
It probably has a lot to do with the kinds of games I play on it as well though. On the vita I played a lot of jrpgs, it really was a beast for that genre, and with those games it can be a lot more menus with turn based combat etc. That means I'd often play with it flat on my lap and not gripping it like a controller which is definitely a less cramped position.
As a vita lover I couldn't agree more. I didn't play the assassins creed game but they had similar stuff in the Uncharted game which ultimately made me quit the game.
I remember having to hold it up to light to reveal something in game and I was playing at night whilst on public transport and no lights around me were emitting enough light to pass this stupid "mini game" -_-
Yeh IMO they are too large. I have a steam deck and I barely ever use it outside the house because it just isnt really that portable in terms of being able to fit it in a bag with all the other stuff you may need when going away, it takes up more than half of my bag space.
So I reverted back to my vita and the experience of actually using it as a portable is miles ahead. Like you say I can slip it in my pocket when transferring between trains or the like and it doesn't fill half my bag when not in use.
I'm a big guy so dont have the smallest hands either but honestly find the steam deck a bit uncomfortable where as the vita just feels good to me.
