No actually FF2 is a completely different engine then 1

  • 2 is written in C++, 1 is written in C

  • 2 runs at 30 FPS, 1 runs at 60

And I could go into more technical detail from there.

For a few years now, a team including myself headed by CheeseyBurrito has been working on a decompilation of Fatal Frame 1 (PS2) With the eventual goal of porting it to PC.

Today we've got some serious progress to show: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThWa7fJACHc) We've got something starting to go in-game. Wireframe rendering, proper camera work and the basic movements all work. Next will be getting polygon fill and textures as well as the other mesh types

Helpful Links:

MikuPan - The actual PC port attempt itself.

Himuro - The project that MikuPan is based on, sole aim is to be a perfect byte for byte matching de-compilation of the original PlayStation 2 source code.

To add my own two cents into this mix.

RuneScape classic with the fan made OepnRSC

And Final Fantasy XI ... kiinnddaa. Not sure if that one's feature complete yet or ever will be. But there's a fan server effort for it like RuneScape.

We all know the classics, Mine Craft, Rust, Stardew Valley, etc. What are some one's you see people less aware of are self hostable?

Hello from the rabbit hole. I haven't seen the light of day in years.

I barely know what food, water or sleep is anymore. But hey! I can turn my lights off and have them come on when sunset occurs. Or they track when I leave my apartment complex property with my cellphone so I don't waste power and there's no 3rd party corpo breathing down my shoulder.

Lack of built-in 2FA for one thing

Defo agree. But I will admit that the soundtrack is fire

Following up on this comment since I haven't seen a thread about it: https://lemmy.blahaj.zone/comment/14639216

And the character trailers are hilarious.

"That thing ... It scares me," Pyro shooting bubbles and lollypops in his mind actually causing pure death and destruction

Basically, what the title says. I'm a C, C+, C# ... Basically, a C languages dev. Work on Video Games mostly, but I like doing other projects as well. Working on some larger ones like in Unreal and Godot that need some big boy space / CI time so I've set off on a small self hosting journey.

Got Nginx set up with Gitea at the moment, but am open to Gitlab, etc.

I was wondering if it's easy to setup these services for LFS space / CI runtime rental for a few buddies of mine just to handle management and potential rental costs depending on how far that goes.

I'm also wondering if Gitea or GitLab would be better for an endeavor like this? And I realize I wouldn't make a huge profit or anything, this would mostly be to mitigate maintenance costs and give my buddies some good deals on CI run time for Unreal or Godot Exports.
