The title doesn't really match the quote
They are talking about saturation of IP, not about making users stick to GamePass subscription.
Which is funny because in my irl experience I've met more people who enjoy the zombies mode than almost any other game mode from CoD, so it makes me wonder why they haven't just committed to a full sci-fi/fantasy FPS and just have you killing zombies and other crazy shit the whole time. There were multiple levels in the BO6 campaign (I watched a playthrough) that were actually like that.
Tiny Tina's Wonderlands (the fantasy spin-off of Borderlands) was insanely fun imo, and plenty of other people felt the same. It seemed like the whole Borderlands style was more suited to a fantasy world than a very soft-cyberpunk-dystopian one.
It'll surely be a big bet. Whatever they're doing clearly works, so they may hesitate to change it too much, but as someone who isn't into multiplayer games, I'd be more interested if CoD is sorta broken up into various experiences. Especially if they can bundle up all the campaigns, that'll be really sweet.
I feel like it's because they can't milk that mode for profit like war-zone and standard MP, PvP environments allow for more glamour opportunities than a PvE environment because everyone else is focused more on the enemies then what their partner has. Nobody sees the cool looking designs and are like "wow that's cool I should get that" like they do in PvP modes.
