If you like to tinker some of those set top boxes are just right for gutting and replacing with a roll your own DVR. You don't even need to change remotes.
Any guide on that?
Unfortunately I have nothing. I have a couple HD boxes I want to do this to but haven't even started yet.
I used to use mythtv and it worked ok, not as nice as Tivo though.
