US Government should directly insure then use military to back that up.
They created the mess they should own it.
I'm not sure I really want my tax dollars to be insuring oil tankers traveling through a war zone.
I'd rather my tax dollars insure sick people.
Plus, who would be dumb enough to believe that Trump would ever hold up his end of a bargain like that?
Well I agree with this obviously but high gas prices also kill people and I’d like us to deal with any mess we are making.

You sure about that? We’re talking insurance, not all tankers would sink, the war itself is billions per day.
The US government investing that much into a bunch of oil tankers would actually make them bigger targets because it would be another vector from which to bleed America's coffers dry.
